NEWS RELEASE: GHANA SECURITIES INDUSTRY ASSOCIATION APPOINTS NEW EXECUTIVES
The Governing Council of the Ghana Securities Industry Association (GSIA) has appointed a new executive team for the 2025 - 2027 administrative period.
Mr Kisseih Antonio, Managing Director of Sentinel Asset Management Limited is the President; Mrs. Eugenia Basheer, Managing Director of Tesah Capital Limited, the Vice – President; and Mr. Kofi Kodua-Sarpong of Sarpong Capital, the Treasurer.
The Governing Council is grateful to its immediate past president, Mr. Winston Nelson Jr. for his exemplary leadership during his tenure; especially during the Domestic Debt Exchange Programme (DDEP). His commitment and crisis management ability was instrumental in steering the securities industry through a challenging time and helped in restoring stability.
Kisseih Antonio - President: President Kisseih is the Managing Director of Sentinel Asset Management (SAM). Prior to SAM, he was Country Head of Ecobank Capital Securities’, Wealth and Asset Management Business. He also doubled as the Managing Director of EDC Investments. Earlier, before joining Ecobank Capital, Kisseih had a stint in corporate banking with Barclays as the Head of Public sector. He has also worked as a fund manager in Nigeria with Zenith Capital and Afrinvest. Kisseih joined the Governing Council of the GSIA in 2018 and served as Vice - President from 2021 until his current appointment as President. He serves on the Securities & Exchange Commission’s Capital Market Master Plan steering committee, is a Governing Council member of the Pan-African Managers Association and sits on the Board of Trustees of the Ghana Venture Capital Trust Fund.
Eugenia Basheer - Vice-President: Eugenia Basheer is the Managing Director of Tesah Capital Limited and is responsible for the implementation of the strategic objectives of the company. She has over 20 years of experience in the Ghanaian capital and money markets spanning investment management, investment analysis, corporate finance, stock brokerage, money market transactions, and customer service. Prior to joining Tesah Capital, she led the team at NewWorld Asset Management Limited where she was responsible for clients like the Teachers’ Fund of the Ghana National Association of Teachers. Eugenia holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration and a BA in Economics from the University of Ghana. Eugenia joined the Governing Council of the GSIA in 2021. She was the Treasurer of the GSIA from 2023 until her appointment as Vice - President. She serves on various committees of the GSIA and is also a member of the Securities & Exchange Commission’s Capital Market Master Plan working group on Education and Research.
Kofi Kodua-Sarpong - Treasurer: Kofi founded Sarpong Capital in 2013. Prior to that, he led the treasury front-office operational setup at The Royal Bank and previously worked with Deloitte Ghana. He holds a BSc (Hons) in Accounting from the University of Hull, an MSc in Accounting and Finance from the Manchester Business School, and is a chartered accountant (ACCA). Kofi is passionate about financial markets, problem-solving, and knowledge sharing. He has guest lectured at the National Banking College, China Europe International Business School (CEIBS), and the Judicial Training Institute (JTI) on Repurchase Agreement (Repo) and Derivative documentation. He joined the GSIA Governing Council in 2022 as a representative of Broker-Dealers and Issuing Houses and also serves on the GSIA Regulatory and Legal Affairs Committee, which reviews regulatory and legal matters impacting the securities industry.
On handing over, Mr. Winston Nelson Jr. had this to say, “To the current leadership - I have every confidence in your ability to carry forward the vision of the GSIA. You are the stewards of the future, and I know you will lead with integrity, innovation, and purpose”.
